Amy’s classes at Lotusland offer a compassionate and accessible sanctuary from our fast paced daily life. Trained in All Levels Vinyasa Flow with advanced specialization in Gentle Flow and Restorative yoga, her teaching integrates breath, mindful movement, heart-centered reflection, and nervous system awareness to create inclusive spaces that support the connection between mind, body, and spirit.
Amy began her personal yoga practice in 2012 as a physical complement to competitive long-distance running on her college team, where her relationship with movement was rooted in performance and endurance. This mindset carried into her academic path while pursuing a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and career in clinical research, where achievement and intensity were central to success. While yoga had become a space to begin shifting away from that constant striving, for many years she still approached it primarily as a physical practice.
Her training right here at Lotusland Yoga School marked a true turning point, deepening her understanding beyond movement and into the history, philosophy, and spiritual path of yoga. Through this experience, she began to appreciate the role of deep rest, nervous system regulation for healing, and the practice of being rather than doing. Having developed a more patient, compassionate relationship with her own body, this evolution now entirely informs her teaching. In her classes, you are invited to shed the pressure of performance, slow down, listen inward, and reconnect with your own inner wisdom.
