Jasmine’s classes offer thoughtful alignment guiding her trademark creative sequencing interwoven through the the breath and yogic wisdom into the dynamic devotion, dance and discipline of Lotus Flow Vinyasa Yoga. Her classes include soulful music, mantra, mudra, mythology and meditation creating an integrated experience and safe and sacred space for everyone to move like themselves. Through the balance of cultivating effort and ease, her classes awaken students’ courage, kindness, compassion and joy towards tranquility of mind and union with spirit. By sparking these traits and embracing yoga as a way of life, she encourages her students to live an authentic and conscious life off the mat to invoke their own healing- and in turn offer the fruits of their practice to benefit others and serve their communities with love.
Jasmine Tarkeshi is the Founder and director of Lotusland Yoga SF and a devotee and student of the transformative teachings of Yoga and its allied tradition for 40 years. She believes yoga is a practice to rewire our brains and destructive habits to disrupt the patterns that breed suffering for personal and collective freedom. By slowing down and developing an honest relationship with who we are, we can awaken the qualities of care, love, honesty, courage and service to be better equipped to co-create a more loving, caring and just world to lessen suffering for ALL people to thrive.
An Iranian-American raised across countries, cities and traditions, she has spent her life on the path of self discovery: from Middle Eastern traditions to the exhilarating music, dance and art scenes of the eighties and nineties in New York and San Francisco. At a young age this dichotomy served as both a fertilizer for creativity- and a source of struggle and uncertainty in finding her place in the world. Being introduced to yoga and Buddhist meditation by her mother as a teenager was the link that bridged this duality and culminated in her co-creating Laughing Lotus Yoga Centers in NYC in 1999 and to SF in 2007, along with its celebrated style of vinyasa, Lotus Flow.
She has studied with and served many of the great teachers, mystics, and sages in the US and India across yoga’s vast yogic traditions and practices, including Vinyasa, Integral, Sivananda, Iyengar, Jivamukti, kundalini, bhakti, ayurveda, karma, tantra, yantra, sanskrit, meditation and mantra in India and New York. Her love and comprehension of yoga’s spiritual texts and traditions along with her knack of weaving this insight in her classes has made her a highly sought-out international teacher leading 200 and 300 hour teacher trainings, intensives and workshops for 26 years. She continues to be committed to a daily practice, honoring Yoga’s ancient roots from India and Hindu masters and their teachings about the working of mind, body and emotions to lessen suffering and connect us to our Spirits and the Divine.
Jasmine's greatest joy is being a mom to her 12 year old daughter in SF. She's written 2 Amazon best selling books that are available at the studio and online via Bookshop and Amazon: Yoga Body & Mind Handbook and Good Intentions: A Guided Yoga Journal. She also has five seasons of yoga classes available on YogaAnytime.
