Tony first discovered yoga in 2008 when an injury necessitated a lifestyle change. What he found was so much more than physical fitness.
Soon after discovering yoga, Tony discovered Laughing Lotus—first in San Francisco while visiting home for the holidays, then in New York City where he was living at the time, trying to make a mark writing musical theatre. In 2012, Tony moved back home to San Francisco and immediately enrolled in Laughing Lotus’ Teacher Training.
Tony’s vinyasa style is heavily influenced by Iyengar and calisthenics. His body is not the long, lithe physique you might see on the cover of Yoga Journal, and figuring out how the poses and transitions manifest in his anatomy heavily informs how he sequences. Tony focuses on building strength and releasing tension through alignment, lengthening, and breath. Also, he’s pretty funny.
Tony is also a music teacher, composer/librettist, conductor, and professional singer, and he is Artistic Director of FOGG Theatre.
