Co-Founder/Director
Jasmine’s classes offer thoughtful and creative sequencing, soulful music, and physical intensity with yogic wisdom to create an integrated experience that awakens students’ courage, compassion and joy. By sparking these often-dormant traits, she encourages her students to live an authentic and conscious life off the mat to invoke their own healing- and in turn, serve their communities with love.
Jasmine Tarkeshi is the Founder and director of Lotusland Yoga SF. She believes yoga is a practice to rewire our brains and disrupt the patterns that breed suffering for personal and collective healing. By slowing down and developing an honest relationship with who we are and not pushing away our own pain and suffering, we can awaken the qualities of care, love, honesty, courage and service to be better equipped to co-create a more loving, caring and just world for *all* people to thrive.
An Iranian-American raised across countries, cities and traditions, she has spent her life steeped in dualism: from sacred Eastern spiritual traditions to the exhilarating dance, music and art scenes of the eighties and nineties in New York and San Francisco. At a young age this dichotomy served as both a fertilizer for creativity- and a source of uncertainty in finding her place in the world. Being introduced to yoga and bhuddist meditation by her mother as a teenager was the link that bridged this duality and culminated in her co-creating Laughing Lotus Yoga Centers in NYC in 1999 and bringing it to SF in 2007, along with its celebrated style of vinyasa, Lotus Flow.
She has studied with many of the great teachers, mystics, and sages in the US and India across yoga’s vast healing traditions, including Iyengar, Vinyasa, Integral, Sivananda, Jiva Mukti, bhakti, ayurveda, karma, tantra, yantra, meditation and mantra in India and New York. Her comprehension of yoga’s spiritual texts and traditions along with her knack of weaving this insight in her classes has made her a highly sought-out international teacher leading 200 and 300 hour teacher trainings, intensives and workshops for over 20 years.
Jasmine's greatest joy is being a mom to her 10 year old daughter. She's written 2 Amazon best selling books that are available at the studio and online via Bookshop and Amazon: Yoga Body & Mind Handbook and Good Intentions: A Guided Yoga Journal. She also has four seasons of yoga classes available on YogaAnytime.
