Zeynep Urgun

A yoga practitioner since 2004 and a classical pilates practitioner since 2002, Zeynep is devoted to the study & practice of mind-body-spirit holism, and to sharing her explorations meeting folks where they're at.

Zeynep feels yoga is a practice for all, to be with themselves and nourish their spirit. In her flow classes, sequence and pace follow the arc of 5 elements- air, fire, water, earth and aether. Zeynep incorporates Pilates principles in her flow to complement mobility of vinyasa. Expect to sweat, expand and then rest.

Zeynep is a mother and immigrant born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. Zeynep started gymnastics and classical ballet at age 4, making movement a way of life for centering her otherwise hyperactive being from an early age. She is a RYT500 in the tradition of Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati, founder of Yoga Society of San Francisco and Ananda Ashram in New York. She is a Pilates Reformer and Matwork instructor from Balanced Body University (BBU) since 2011. She is also a Hakomi mindfulness based somatic psychotherapy practitioner and an embodied touch in somatic psychotherapy practitioner. An eternal student, Zeynep is devoted to learn from and hold space for the wisdom within all.

Zeynep holds a BSc in Computer Engineering, a MSc in Organizational Psychology, and a MA in Critical Cultural Studies. She has a career in the field of venture capital and is counseling folks in her private practice. Zeynep loves making tea, underwater photography, hosting and cooking for family-style big communal dinners, nerding about technology, spirituality and somatics.
